The Information Science & Technology (IST) degree at Missouri S&T was created to meet the growing need in industry for professionals who have information technology skills merged with business skills that go outside the scope of traditional programs in Computer Science and Engineering.

The IST program is unique in that it places an emphasis on:
a.the application of IT across a variety of settings and contexts;
b.the impact of technologies on humans;
c.the economics of IT; and
d.management and leadership in IT organizations.

The IST program represents an important step forward for the University in extending the scope of its mission, while still resting on Missouri S&T's solid foundation as one of the nation's leaders in engineering and technology education.
